Anderson leads RGS First XV in 2024

The Rockhampton Grammar School proudly welcomes Lee Anderson as the 1st XV Head Coach for the upcoming 2024 rugby season.

With a decade of coaching experience across various levels of rugby, Anderson brings a wealth of expertise and an unwavering commitment to player development and team excellence.

Rockhampton Grammar School Headmaster Dr Phillip Moulds said the School was delighted to welcome Lee Anderson to the helm of the our 1st XV rugby programme.

"Lee's dedication to both on-field success and the holistic development of young athletes aligns perfectly with the School's values and rugby philosophy,’’ Dr Moulds said.

Anderson was Head Coach of the RGS U15 boys rugby union team in 2023, coupled with pivotal roles as an Assistant/Backs Coach for teams such as Rockhampton Brahmans, CQ Open Men, Rockhampton Brothers Rugby Union, and Longreach Rustlers.

Anderson is enthusiastic about the appointment.

“My coaching philosophy centres on fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship,’’ Anderson said.

“I am devoted to nurturing the talents of athletes, guiding them to realise their full potential both on and off the field."

Anderson is excited about the newly forged partnership between The Rockhampton Grammar School and the Melbourne Rebels Super Rugby club, acknowledging its potential influence on the RGS rugby programme.

"The collaboration with the Melbourne Rebels Super Rugby club brings an exciting dimension to our programme,” Anderson said.

“It's a fantastic opportunity for our players to benefit from top-level expertise, exposure, and training methodologies from a professional outfit. This partnership will undoubtedly elevate our standards and open doors for our aspiring athletes.”

Having immersed himself in The Rockhampton Grammar School's Year 10 rugby programme during the 2023 season, Anderson was impressed by the School’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and sportsmanship.

His eagerness to contribute to the School's rich rugby tradition and steer the rugby team toward unprecedented success resonates profoundly with the institution's ethos.

"I am thrilled about the opportunity to align my skills and experiences with the goals of The Rockhampton Grammar School," Anderson said.

Anderson’s commitment to development and mentoring echoes his readiness to elevate the players and foster the growth of fellow coaches.
