Positive Education

At The Rockhampton Grammar School, we believe that wellbeing should be at the heart of education. As such, we are implementing a whole-school approach to Positive Education by developing our own unique model that will be imbedded into our current pastoral care program.

Positive Psychology is grounded in the belief that people want to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, to cultivate what is best within them, and to enhance their experiences of love, work, and play. Positive Education brings the science of Positive Psychology together with best teaching practice to support the flourishing of individuals and institutions.

Many components of Positive Education are already addressed in pastoral programmes at RGS, however, in 2018 the School is launching a whole school approach to Positive Education. With this in mind, we are proud and excited to offer our parents Rockhampton Grammar SchoolTV. SchoolTV is a unique online resource delivering powerful and credible information to empower parents with the skills to address common issues facing young people today. SchoolTV aggregates information from many reputable resources and delivers it to parents as a single stream of independent factual information that saves parents time and confusion. SchoolTV content is based around major topics of influence and are delivered via a series of short videos, fact sheets, articles, parent quizzes and recommended apps, books and links.

The world our children are growing up in is becoming increasingly complex. Our role as parents can be challenging as we try to understand the pressures our children face during each stage of their development and as we assist with navigating their online world and support them to make sensible and beneficial decisions for themselves and in their relationships with others.

We hope that you will find SchoolTV a useful and informative tool. Together, we can support each other to raise happy, healthy and resilient boys, girls, men and women.

Student Care

From Early Learning through to Year 12, we understand how important it is for our children to feel a sense of belonging within a strong and warm-hearted School community.

It is because of this connectedness that our students are able to thrive intellectually, socially and emotionally and develop the good character, confidence and thoughtfulness required to realise their potential.

Childhood and adolescence are moments in time in which parents and educators seek to develop our children’s sound values, good learning habits, self esteem and identity.

Our hand-picked team works together to guide students through the process of self-discovery.

Through our age-appropriate personal development programme our students receive individualised care and attention supported by a family of teachers, other professionals and counsellors. Our hand-picked team works together to guide students through the process of self-discovery, encouraging strength and resilience and fostering pride and self-worth.

From this nurturing foundation, our students learn responsibility, strategies for perseverance and the value of supportive relationships. Positive and ethical behaviour among our students is the result and an appreciation of the importance of giving back to the community.

Reinforcing our student-centred programme, The Rockhampton Grammar School holds regular workshops and presentations with renowned guest speakers who share their specialist knowledge in a wide range of topics relevant to the personal development of our students. These programmes are designed to inspire and motivate so our children adopt increasing responsibilities and in doing so, earn respect and acquire self-belief.

We are committed to providing our students with a solid platform from which to make good choices, set clear goals and reap the rewards of determination and effort in their learning and in their lives.
