Class Structure
In year 8, students are placed in form classes that stay together for English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Physical Education and a weekly life-skills lesson. Classes also rotate through a variety of subjects which introduce the elective subjects on offer in years 9 and 10. Towards the end of year 8 students choose three elective subjects to add to their core subjects in year 9 and 10. Individual subject choices may be reviewed throughout year 9 and 10 at interview with the Head of Year.
In year 10, also a transitional year, class arrangements are more flexible to enable students to prepare for Senior School. Core classes are structured by Heads of Departments who take into account individual student's needs and abilities (eg. Preparation for Mathematics A or Mathematics B, Physics, Chemistry or Biology).
