Distinguished Past Students' Awards

The 2020 Dinner will be held in the School's Memorial Assembly Hall on Saturday, 25 July.

Nominations for the 2020 Awards close on 6 March 2020.

The Distinguished Past Students' Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of extraordinary Past Students in a diverse range of fields and areas of endeavour. It is about recognising those Past Students in whose service and contributions have had the effect of making a significant difference to their community, state and nation.

The Distinguished Past Students' Awards recognises the actions and achievements of Past Students who have gone above and beyond what could be reasonably expected, and in doing so, encourages aspirations and ideals of the highest community standards and values. Distinguished Past Students are tangible models of good women and men to current students.

The award categories are:

Distinguished Past Student Award

This Award is the School community’s pre-eminent means of recognising outstanding achievement and contribution by Past Students. It recognises Past Students who have made a significant difference to their community, their country or at an international level. Distinguished Past Students must have achieved outstandingly and been recognised in the community for their achievement, beyond the normal requirements and functions of their everyday employment. Nominees must fully satisfy the selection criteria of at least one category:

  • Community Service & Leadership
  • Academic & Professional Excellence
  • Sporting & Cultural Excellence

Past Students' Association Outstanding Achiever Award

This Award recognises past students who have made a notable contribution in their field of endeavour, and who have upheld the School’s values as an RGS alumnus. This Award recognises outstanding achievement and contribution by a past student in at least one of the following categories:

  • Community Service & Leadership
  • Academic & Professional Excellence
  • Sporting & Cultural Excellence

Central Queensland Community Contribution Award

This Award provides an opportunity to recognise past students who have dedicated themselves to serving the community of Central Queensland. Recipients have had a significant impact on the Central Queensland community and have demonstrated outstanding efforts towards its improvement.

Past Staff Life Membership of the Past Students' Association

Past Staff Life Memberships of the Past Students’ Association are presented to past staff of The Rockhampton Grammar School who made a significant impact on the lives of students while employed at RGS. The former employee’s professionalism and adherence to the Code of Conduct whilst employed at RGS will be taken into consideration. Past staff employed in any capacity by the School may be considered (teacher, ancillary and support staff, member of the Leadership Team etc).         

Criteria

Nominees may be living or deceased RGS Past Students of at least one year of enrolment.

Selection criteria are needed to ensure the selection process is objective and defensible. The selection process must exhibit clear reasoning and consistent expectations of the required standard of achievement.
