Led by Mrs Wendy Goldston, excitingly, this is the foundation year of the Secondary Signing Choir. The secondary choir is a logical progression for students to access either as a follow-on experience after participating in a primary signing choir, or as a new and interesting activity.

The secondary signing choir is very different to the usual choir as it combines both the beautiful language of sign, with choreographed movement and dance in a truly unique way.

Teacher/conductor/choreographer Wendy Goldston (nee Wood) brings with her an enormous wealth of performance experience. During the past 14 years Wendy has initiated and led up to 5 signing choirs each year, with her most advanced and dynamic group called "Signsational" being in national demand. "Signsational" consisted of highly skilled secondary school students from across the Rockhampton area, all of whom started signing with 'Miss Wood' at the same state primary school. Throughout many years, "Signsational" performed at prestigious events and festivals throughout Queensland and in Victoria. They were special guests for the international singing group "Human Nature", and for many years were inhibited to perform at the very special "Spirit of Christmas" festival held at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex. Performance with talented The Australian Army Band Brisbane and The Australian Army Band Melbourne were numerable. They were the invited guests of the Governor of Queensland for the Government House Christmas Carols and were twice honored to be a key part of the Lord Mayor's Channel Seven Christmas Carols televised nationally on the Seven Network. Most recently "Signsational" performed at Mrs Goldston's wedding.

It is hoped the Secondary Signing Choir will be an important element of school and community functions and events for the coming year, and that the group will grow and florist as the years progress.

The uniform for this performance group will change depending on the performance and song, however dressy black long pants will definitely be required along with black school shoes.

Because of heavy workloads in the secondary school limited rehearsals will be held during some sections of the year. Rehearsal schedules will be published and provided to students.
