Introduction |
The Rockhampton Grammar School is recognised as one of the largest co-educational boarding schools in the country and, indeed, the largest in Queensland.
We give our boys and girls the opportunity to grow in body, mind and spirit. We seek to develop in them a 'generosity of spirit' towards themselves and others because our students' self-esteem is the foundation for their self-discipline. Like all large organizations, the School's boarding houses rely on routine and boundaries.
The 2005 OP results indicate our boarders are performing very well, particularly the girls. Indeed, 48% of all boarders received an OP8 or better. Our junior results are also very encouraging. The Rockhampton Grammar School continues to implement Dimensions of Learning, while the Curriculum Plus programme allows boarders to study at TAFE and participate in work-based training.
The Boarder Parents Committee, which supports our boarding activities, meets with the Headmaster and boarding staff at the beginning of each term to discuss relevant issues. Currently, Mrs Mia Francis acts as Committee President and Mrs Diane Armstrong as Secretary. There is also a Boarding Student Committee, members of which are appointed to liaise with different Houses and dormitories.
Other School services we rely on include: the Health Centre, the Transport Department and Kitchen, the Learning Centre and Counselling , as well as Co-Curriculum.
