Four days of dance and musical theatre workshops with some of Australia’s best professional performers.

FAQs:

The workshops have been designed for dedicated dance students from 8 - 18 years. Classes will be based on age groups (junior,
intermediate and senior).

What level of experience is required?
To gain the most from the summer school classes, students should be currently enrolled at a dance studio where they take weekly
dance classes.
What if a dancer doesn't tap?
Given the very specific technical skills required to participate in a tap workshop of this level, only students who currently learn tap at a
dance studio are able to participate in the tap classes. Students who do not study tap will be offered an alternative class in
lieu. Students are able to participate in all other classes regardless of prior experience with that particular genre.
Where is the event being held?
The summer school is being held at The Rockhampton Grammar School's professional dance studios. The fully air-conditioned studios
have sprung dance floors, full-length mirrors, barres, professional sound systems and are all located in one modern building within the
main campus of The Rockhampton Grammar School.
What are the start and finish times?
On Monday students are asked to arrive at 8:00am for registration and a welcome meeting. Classes will commence at 9.00am each
morning, so students are asked to arrive at 8.30am (Tuesday to Thursday). Classes will conclude each day at 4.l5pm Monday through
to Wednesday. On Thursday the program will conclude at 4:00pm, after the Showcase. A detailed schedule of classes, including break
times will be emailed to participants in the lead up to the summer school.
What are the supervision arrangements?
Your child will be fully supervised during classes by the dance tutors and during breaks by staff of The Rockhampton Grammar School.
Dancers are required to stay on campus at The Rockhampton Grammar School for the duration of the summer school day.
What are the food/drink arrangements?
Dancers must bring adequate food each day (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea). Dancers must bring their own named water bottle
each day which can be refilled as needed on site.
Will I be able to see what the students have worked on during the summer school?
Yes, students will present a Showcase on the final day in The Rockhampton Grammar School Theatre.
What attire is acceptable?
Appropriate dance shoes must be worn for each genre. Sneakers are not appropriate for use on the professional sprung floors. Tap
shoes are essential if participating in tap classes. Students are required to wear suitable dance and active wear. Crop tops should be
covered with singlets or over-shirts. Hair should be off the face.
When should I get my ticket?
You should get your tickets ASAP! There are only a limited number of tickets available and with such an impressive line-up of tutors, the
event is likely to sellout quickly. Tickets are on sale until 15 November unless sold out earlier.
What payment methods are available?
Credit/debit card is the only payment method available. Our booking system is all online and very easy to navigate. Using this payment
method will allow you to finalise your booking and payment efficiently. This payment method has been selected as it ensures the
security of all transactions and protects your privacy.
What is the refund policy?
Deposits and course fees are non-refundable, however a refund may be offered in exceptional circumstances or on compassionate
grounds. Registrations may be transferred to another dancer with approval from the RGS Dance Council. Please address requests for
refunds and/or transfers in writing to the RGS Dance Council by email: dance@rgs.qld.edu.au.
